Atrium Hosts 35th Anniversary Art Show

On May 10, Atrium held the opening of our final 35th Anniversary celebration: the Atrium Art Show. Nearly 90 people celebrated Atrium's proud artistic achievements and our shared history. Dozens of artists from throughout the school's tenure donated art for the Show, including faculty (past and present), grandparents, friends, families, and alumni.

Guests of the Art Show included members of the Atrium community from throughout the past 35 years. Alumni mingled with board members, faculty chatted with parents, and friends of the school came together to celebrate Atrium's past, present, and future.

"Since the beginning, hundreds of students have benefitted from dedicated faculty, a rich program, expanding facilities, now a middle school and a host of other changes. Amidst these changes Atrium has sought to stay the same," said Ed Lang '95, Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Development Committee. "For 35 years now, Atrium’s single-minded focus has been to encourage students’ academic curiosity, creativity, and exploration while fostering each child’s intellectual growth. (Those words might sound very familiar to some of you; they come directly from our mission statement.)"

"In this room are people who were quite literally, there at the creation in 1982. And in this room are the parents of children who will graduate in the 2030s. Looking out from our 35th, we can begin to see on the horizon, our 50th anniversary as a bright beacon of extraordinary progressive teaching and learning, of deep intellectual curiosity, of caring for families, of kindness and compassion," said Marshall Carter, head of school. "This night will soon be over, and the formal celebration of our 35th year will also soon draw to a close. But really, Atrium is beginning a whole new leg of its journey together. We’re in a beautiful moment in its history. We are still deeply rooted in our beginnings, and eager for what’s still to come."
