Math Tutor
(part-time, for the 25-26 school year)
Atrium School currently seeks a part-time (3 or 4 days per week) math tutor to be paid privately by families. The hours would be negotiable, ideally within school hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. With a passion for and specialization in mathematics, you will work with students individually or in small groups, providing them with support and guidance to improve their understanding and skills in mathematics. Your primary responsibility will be to assist students in comprehending mathematical concepts, solving problems, and developing effective study strategies. Atrium teachers will work in partnership to support that goal.
As a self-employed tutor, this position naturally involves invoicing and collecting payment directly from families, who will welcome this support for their child. As a service provider who works on the school site, you will also be required to secure liability insurance and a background check. At the same time, Atrium will provide an already established clientele, facilitate and encourage connections with families, offer contact information regarding insurance and background checks, and ensure that an appropriate space is available to work in the school.
Responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions with elementary and middle school students.
Assess students' math proficiency and identify areas for improvement.
Create personalized learning plans tailored to each student's needs and learning style.
Teach fundamental math concepts and skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, and algebra.
Provide clear explanations and examples to help students grasp difficult concepts.
Offer guidance and assistance with homework assignments, projects, and test preparation.
Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary to ensure comprehension and improvement.
Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and academic success.
Communicate regularly with students' parents or guardians to discuss progress, challenges, and goals.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students inside and outside of class.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, education, or a related field (preferred).
Previous experience working as a math tutor or teacher.
Strong understanding of elementary and middle school math curriculum and standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
Reliable and punctual with a commitment to maintaining scheduled tutoring sessions.
Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Relevant certifications may be required.

Spanish Teacher, PreK – Grade 8
(part-time, .70 FTE, beginning August 2025)

Atrium School seeks a Spanish Teacher (three days a week) for PreK – Grade 8. The Atrium Spanish program helps children develop basic communicative competence in Spanish, instills confidence and pride in students as Spanish speakers, creates a Spanish learning culture that is joyful and exciting, and develops students’ understanding and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures. The Spanish teacher works closely with the Middle School teaching team, PreK – Grade 5 faculty teams, and administrators to create meaningful projects and field trips, set homework and assessments for diverse learners, and write progress reports for Middle School students, as well as curriculum summaries, three times a year.
Responsibilities include:
Designing and selecting Spanish language curriculum
Developing engaging lesson plans with an understanding of the individual needs of students
Leading conversational classes, engaging students in games, and teaching vocabulary, grammar, and written Spanish
Teaching students about the history, culture, traditions, and achievements of people in the multiple regions and cultures where Spanish is spoken
Investing in the life of the school by supporting social and emotional learning, participating in faculty meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, faculty work week, anti-bias training, and other professional development opportunities
Collaborating with colleagues to produce interdisciplinary projects and collectively support the overall growth of students
Requirements:
Written and verbal proficiency in Spanish, with a familiarity with related literature, history, culture, and current events
Teaching experience, certificate, and/or degree, with a strong understanding and appreciation for the unique developmental needs of elementary and middle school age students
Strong interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills, with an inclination to share that with colleagues and families
Ongoing professional development, as well as a comfort with conducting classes almost exclusively in Spanish while incorporating a deep focus on cultural understandings
A familiarity with the ACTFL guidelines for teaching and learning a second language, as well as an understanding of supporting students whose first language is Spanish

Substitute Teachers (part-time)
Atrium School currently seeks substitute teachers who take the place of a teacher who is absent for personal, professional, or health reasons. Though long-term subbing situations may arise, the usual commitment is for full or partial days, one or two days at a time. Opportunities for after-school programming subs may also be available.
In PreK to Grade 5, this means assisting the co-teacher who leads the classroom.
In the Middle School, this includes facilitating and carrying out lesson plans for the day for a given class and creating reports to inform the students’ permanent teachers about the day.
